PUBLIC SPEAKING
COURSE OUTLINE
The seminar, which
will have a limited enrollment to ensure participation by and attention
to each person, will cover the essentials of preparing and delivering
a public presentation, including:
- Keys to building
confidence
- Overcoming natural
nervousness
- The all important
structure: Organizing and drafting your speech
- How to effectively
prepare for your talk
- What to do right
before you speak
- The importance
of practice and how to go about it; how to rehearse
- Mastering your
delivery.
- Advice on what
you should do and not do during your presentation
- Effective use of
your voice and voice projection.
- Body language,
movements, postures, and appearance
- The Audience; how
to connect, how to hold its attention and how to handle questions
The final segment
of the seminar will focus on the critique and evaluation of practice
speeches. Each participant will present a talk up to 5 minutes in the
class, and this will be taped and a CD provided for each person's future
reference.
